Waiting can be so frustrating.
When you've prayed and prayed, hoped and hoped, and yet nothing seems to be changing, discouragement can settle in your heart. You begin to wonder whether your prayers are making a difference. And if you're honest, you're tempted to stop waiting altogether and take matters into your own hands.
Most of us don't mind waiting if we know how long we are required to wait. But waiting with uncertainty is much harder. It tests our faith, our patience, and our trust in God's timing.
I remember standing in line at a shop one day. It felt as though I had been waiting forever. Customer after customer was being served, and I found myself becoming increasingly impatient as time was ticking by.
Eventually, it was my turn.
As I stepped forward, the employee behind the counter gave me a heartfelt smile and said something completely unexpected.
"Thank you for waiting patiently."
Immediately, my frustration faded, but their compassionate words left a lasting impression on me.
Later, I found myself imagining what it would be like to hear Jesus say those same words.
"Thank you for waiting patiently for Me to come through for you."
What a beautiful thought.
I can’t honestly say that I have waited for the Lord without getting frustrated, without tapping my foot, or constantly looking at my watch, wondering when He’s going to show up. But the second I stopped being irritated by what I wanted to see happen and instead trusted that His sovereignty was working in areas I couldn’t see, I found my hope and faith were renewed to trust God even in the waiting.
The challenge isn't simply to wait.
The challenge is to wait well.
To keep trusting when nothing seems to be changing.
To keep praying when answers haven't arrived.
To keep believing that God is faithful, even when His timetable looks different from ours.
Perhaps today you need to pause and picture yourself standing before
Jesus and hearing Him say:
"Thank you for waiting patiently for Me to come through for you."
Allow those words to strengthen your heart.
If you are in a waiting season right now, why not make this your prayer?
"Lord, help me trust You more. Teach me not only to wait, but to wait well. Strengthen my faith when I grow discouraged. Help me believe that You will come through for me in Your perfect time. And until then, help me to wait patiently, knowing that You are always faithful. Amen."
Whatever you're waiting for, don't lose heart.
‘…keep hoping, keep trusting,
and keep waiting on the Lord,
for he is tender-hearted, kind, and forgiving…’
Psalm 130:7 (TPT)
