\"Mama said there'd be days like these.\"

Most of us smile when we hear that saying because we know it's true. Life has a way of reminding us that not every day is filled with sunshine and celebration. Some days are hard. Some seasons seem darker and longer than we expected. We stumble, struggle, and wonder how we're going to make it through.

Perhaps you're having one of those days right now.

The encouraging thing is that difficult days should not surprise us. Mama might have said, “There’d be days like these,” but so did Jesus in John 16:33…

"In this world you will have trouble.

But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Notice that Jesus didn't say we might have trouble. He said we will. Yet He didn't issue us a warning and leave us with no hope. He followed His words with a promise. Because He has overcome the world, we can face our troubles with confidence in Him.

I've experienced some very dark days. Days when I felt beyond weary, filled with doubt, and immensely overwhelmed. Looking back, I wouldn't have chosen those seasons, but something precious happened in them. I discovered the comfort and strength of the Lord in ways I never would have known otherwise.

God met me in my darkness.

He carried me when I was unable to walk.

He strengthened me when I had nothing left to give.

Psalm 37:24 gives us a wonderful promise that though we may stumble, we will not fall, for the Lord upholds us with His hand.

And Isaiah 40:11 paints us a beautiful picture of how our God cares for us…

‘He will care for you as a shepherd tends his flock, gathering the weak lambs and taking them in his arms. He carries them close to his heart and gently leads those that have young.’ Isaiah 40:11 (TPT)

What an image.

When life feels heavy, imagine yourself being held in the loving arms of your Shepherd. Not condemned. Not forgotten. Not abandoned. Held close to His heart.

If you're walking through some bad days right now, hang on. Hang on to your Shepherd. He will get you through this because the One who holds you is faithful. The Shepherd who carries His people has not let go of you, and He never will.

You can trust Him.

Even in the dark days.
